Why we're building Dental AI Assistant
Front desk staff at a dental practice spend a surprising share of the day answering the same handful of questions—pricing, insurance, availability—while chairside care waits. We're building Dental AI Assistant to take that routine communication off a practice's plate entirely, so staff time shifts back toward patients instead of the phone.
The problem
Scheduling, pricing, and insurance questions were competing with in-chair patient care for staff attention, appointments were going unreminded, and satisfied patients rarely left a review unless someone followed up right after their visit.
Where practice time actually goes:
- • Calls stack up during office hours, competing with in-chair patient care
- • No-shows go unmanaged without timely, personalized reminders
- • Satisfied patients rarely leave a review unless someone follows up right after their visit
- • Any solution has to fit inside HIPAA and existing practice management software, not around it
How we're building it
We're building Dental AI Assistant as an always-on layer over the practice's existing systems: it answers routine patient questions instantly, books appointments against real provider and chair availability, and sends personalized, multi-channel follow-ups—all logged and auditable to stay HIPAA-compliant. It's running in private beta with select practices ahead of general availability.
24/7 patient communication
Patients get instant, accurate answers about procedures, pricing, and availability at any hour—no calls stacking up in a voicemail box.
Scheduling that considers the whole practice
Appointments are booked against treatment duration, provider availability, and patient preference together, not a single open slot.
Compliance built in, not bolted on
Every patient communication is logged and auditable, with end-to-end encryption and BAA agreements, so it fits inside HIPAA requirements from the start.
Runs alongside existing practice software
Integration is being built for Dentrix, Eaglesoft, and Open Dental, so practices don't have to change their system of record to use it.
Where it stands today
Key engineering decisions
Design for HIPAA from the first line of code: Retrofitting compliance into a healthcare product is harder than building it in from the start.
Beta with real practices before general availability: Patient communication is high-stakes enough that we're validating it with select practices first.
Fit into the practice management software already in use: A tool that requires switching systems of record is a much harder sell than one that plugs into what's already there.
